1 Corinthians 15:55
"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"
I read the story the other day of a father who had taken his daughter to the park. The young girl was frightened of bees because she was deathly allergic to their sting. Walking along a path a bee came toward them -- the girl screamed, but the father calmly reached out his hand and snatched the bee out of the air. He then opened his fist and set the bumblebee free. The little girl asked her father, "Daddy, why did you let it go?" Rather than explain, the father turned his palm toward his child, and showed her the stinger imbedded in his palm.
That is exactly what Jesus did for us -- He absorbed the sting of our sins. He conquered death and we no longer need to fear its sting. Our passage today, is a victory shout: "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"
All too often we suffer from fear. Make a list of the ones that cause the most pain in your life. What does the Bible say? Have some of these fears taken the joy from your life? Can your perspective be changed? Are you living the victorious life God promises?
